Never choose between durability and dexterity again! Inspired by the needs of supermoto racers who require both extreme flexibility and extreme protection, the Sumo® R gloves are ideal for street riding too. In fact, to make it even more useful for everyday riding, we added a new touch screen interface to the finger tips for controlling your iPhone/Android/GPS, etc.

The secret to adding protection without sacrificing our legendary flexibility and comfort is the use of a specialized Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR) material. Its computer optimized, segmented design is transparent to the user yet provides serious impact resistance.

Compared to the standard DeerSports®, the Sumo® R has a completely outseam construction. It also adds impact protection to the knuckles, fingers and wrist bones.

It is suitable for all kinds of street and track riding, and includes all the same features as the standard Sumo model.

Proudly made in the USA.

    Gloves

Posted by Josh on 30th Jun 2020

The gloves are ok. Over priced for what they are. There is no foam impact protection in the palms. The gauntlets are way too big. I wore them ones to the grocery store and back and the seams started coming apart in multiple places. I sent them back for a refund and Lee Parks HAS NOT REFUNDED ME, answered their phones, or contacted me in anyway despite me leaving all my info nd following their return directions. You can find better stuff that actually looks cool and performs better for less than half the price on amazon. I will not be doing business with this company again bad service nd bad products. Nice leather was used tho and the outer seams are a good idea so it gets 2 stars.

    Great Gloves

Posted by Duane on 10th May 2020

These are absolutely the most comfortable gloves with the finest dexterity of any I've worn in 45 years of riding. They remind me of the Bates deer skin gloves I wore in the 90's, but an much improved version. Worth the price.

    Perfect Fit

Posted by John on 14th Feb 2020

I have bought a lot of riding gloves during my 25 yrs of motorcycling experience. I must say that the Sumo gloves are the smoothest pairs I've ever bought and the fit is just perfect. I'm going to order the shorter version for summer riding.

    Simply the best...

Purchased these a few months after seeing them on a fellow rider and they quickly become my go to gloves for every ride. Smooth, comfortable and flexible. With other gloves my fingers used to get fatigued from being wrapped around the throttle but not with these. Touchscreen option makes it a total package. Quality stuff. Keep up the good work guys.

    SUMO R Gloves

A well deserved 5-Star rating. The SUMO R gloves offer a quality, comfort, and protection that I have yet to find with several of the major brands I tried. I purchase this model and both DeerSport models to accommodate different conditions. I bought the 3-pairs for a reason. All excellent well designed products. More importantly, the materials used in these gloves offer outstanding sense of touch & feedback critical to control and safety. I would highly recommend this product to my riding buddies.

    Great Gloves!

Posted by Gene Shaw on 22nd Oct 2019

Picked this up and then went on a 1000 mile trip. They held up really well. Very comfortable and give great feed back from the controls on the bike. Do use the sizing chart as it is a lot different than other gloves. I normal wear a XXL in Rev'it but I am medium in these. Only two minor complaints. First the cell/gps touch doesn't work as well as my other gloves. Still useable just a bit finky. Next during the first long day of riding in hot weather my hands took on a yellowish/orange color from the gloves. Now that the gloves have been broken that isn't happening. Overall an excellent pair of gloves.

    Sumo R

Posted by Viet Luu on 4th Oct 2019

I picked up these gloves based off recommendation from Motojitsu aka Fast Eddie. Fall is settling here in SoCal and mornings are getting a little chilly so I used this excuse to pick up a pair of gauntlet gloves to welcome into my collection.

First is sizing. I used the size chart print out and my baby man hands put me at XS. With my 8" circumference and 7.5" finger length I'm usually a Small in other brands like Dainese or Alpinestars, but keep in mind LPD mentions they do run a tad larger, true to US sizing. Got the XS and they fit, excuse the pun, like a glove.

Unfortunately my gloves had a minor defect that I noticed on day 2 of ownership. The leather they use to wrap the index finger to make it touch screen compatible was already coming undone at the finger tip. Not really a big deal as it doesn't really affect the protective integrity of the glove, but I did have my wife sew it back down to prevent the possibility of it snagging on anything in the future. Touch screen capability still works.

I have a race gauntlet glove, the RS Taichi GP-EVO, which are also amazing gloves. Once they're on they are comfy, have great tactile response, and feel very protective. The Sumo R's beat out my RST gloves on tactile response, comfort, and flexibility. A seamless palm puts me that much closer to my controls and gives me this sense of greater feel. I have more range of motion in fingers and wrist. I used to wear race gauntlets on the street, but now that these Sumo R's are in my life I don't think I can ever go back. Buttery smooth leather and the fact that I can slip them on so effortlessly is a huge deal to me. Something like the GP-EVO takes a little extra time to get all the adjustments right and is really meant for race fit sleeves. They are specialized gloves with one focus: highest protection in a track environment. For everyday practicality, it's the Sumo R all day everyday.

    What I love:
-simple design lends to more comfort, tactile response, and flexibility
    -Did I say they're comfy?
-Ease of putting on like a short cuff glove with the coverage of a gauntlet
-"Anchor/hook" tab on wrist strap is subtly ingenious and intuitive, makes for easy adjusting
-Both my wife and I thought these weren't the most aesthetic gloves (gardening gloves come to mind), but when we saw it in person, both our minds changed real fast. I've come to really like this particular styling.

    Not really a Con:
-Maybe not suitable for very fast track riders on the track (thinking low-side at 100+ mph)? reason: lack of palm sliders. Purely guessing here. 99% of people will probably be fine with this level of protection.

    Cons:
-little long in the index finger
    -touch screen capability is passable
